Punta Arena - Margarita Island

A magnificent beach in Macanao

On the eastern tip of Margarita Island, Macanao, there is Punta Arenas, one of the most beautiful beaches on Margarita Island. With clean sands and cristal clear waters, this beach is one of the favorites of locals and tourists, even if it means to make an at least one hour ride from Porlamar. But this is really part of the attraction of this beach. Who travels to this beach wants to get away form routine and the multitude of the nearer beaches.

Punta Arenas is 1500 m. long The water is shallow and full of shells and coral. Fishermen shacks and boats line the shore.

Shades and chairs are available for rent as well as several restaurants. There is also enough space left for those who bring their own umbrella and everything necessary to spend a nice day with family or friends. Salesmen are rare and that makes this beach more quiet.

Manzanillo - the end of Punta Arenas

After the village Punta Arenas, where the paved road ends, take the sand and mud trail to the right.and your reach the end of Punta Arenas, called Manzanillo. It has nothing to do whatsoever with the village Manzanillo next to Playa El Agua. You have to follow the signs "Restaurante GT", because Manzanillo is not indicated anyway.

This beach is ultimately beautiful, it is even the most beautiful part of Punta Arenas, where you can appreciate nature without the shacks and boats disturbing it. You have to be careful, because in the soft sands even 4 wheel drives get stuck. The good thing is that there is always somebody there willing to help to get the car running again.

The only option for food is the Restaurant GT named after its owner´s Gisela and Tor. The Jeep Safaris stop there, so it is always open and always well stocked.

Playa Las Lajas: Is a charming little beach just after Punta Arenas. You can walk there from Playa Manzanillo, climbing over the rocks or by car taking the mud road behind the Restaurant. It is a delicious little beach and completely lonely. It is sure worth to visit it.

La Pared: Magnificent sunsets and guaranteed peaceful , strong waves. No services there. 1500 of natural beauty. Fuente: Sol de Margarita-Turisteando
